A Short Tale Of Two SolitudesToday's Devotional
Matthew 6:28-30 Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you - you of little faith?
Two worlds are represented in my household at this moment. They are as different as night and day.
I took a moment to sit and share with my brother-in-residence that I had come to the end of my rope. It was Saturday afternoon and I had just finished an 84 hour week that had no nights free and less than half a day left to revitalize before I began again the next morning.
He looked at me and quietly said he hadn't had an hour of meaningful work that entire week and then asked which of us I'd rather be?
I didn't need to answer but I have two prayers. The first is for those who feel they are run off their feet. The second is for those who have been out of work for a long time.
Prayer: Lord, lead me to a path of still water where I might quench my thirst for a quiet moment and then simply have time to be still.
God, grant me meaningful work to do, a joy in living life to the full, and a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day, whatever the day may bring.
Both prayers I offer in the name of Jesus Christ who is my way, my truth, and my life. Amen.

Chorus:
Bloom, bloom, bloom where you're planted.
You will find your way.
Bloom, bloom bloom where you're planted.
You will your day.
Some plant the seeds that others will water,
But in all things God gives the growth.
Come, let Him garden the flowers within you;
Come and discover some you've never known.
Look at the love that lies deep within you.
Let yourself be! Let yourself be!
Look at the gifts you have been given;
Let them go free. Let them go free.

Surgery was very successful. Recovery is going very well and hopefully Lynn will be coming home from the hospital on Tuesday or Wednesday. In three or four weeks she will go on to radiation treatments. Please continue to pray. Praise God for his grace and faithfulness.
Brain Tumor Still There 10/23/97
Pray for Lynn. After an operation for removal of a brain tumor in June and followup chemo therapy ... the tumor is still there and she is being operated on today. Thursday October 23/97 for debulking of the tumor (it is impossible to remove all of it) and then after a period of healing there will be a series of radiation treatments. Pray for Lynn and her husband and three sons. Pray for the doctors and nurses. Pray that they may all know God's loving presence and strength.
The devil is trying to be busy in my life. by Michelle Evelyn 10/15/97
I ask you pray for me and my boyfriend Ernest. We are having problems in our relationship and there is too much interference from outsiders. I ask that God change him to be a better person and a honest person. I also ask God to protect me from my enemies that try to destroy me and cause probelsm in my life. In Jesus name I ask for your prayer. Amen. Thank You
