The Graduate: Part 3... Trying

Philippians 4:11-13 - For I have learned to be content with whatever I have. I know what it is to have little and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.There is an old saying that goes like this:
- You never know what you can do until you try.
Maybe you feel that way about graduation, maybe even more about what you will be doing next. Bonaro Overstreet has added a little supplement to the old saying which goes like this:
- You will never try till you know what you can do.
The ability and the will to try are not conjured up out of nothing. They are made largely out of the past efforts that have brought pleasant rather than painful results. These efforts, many of them, lie so far back in our infancy and childhood that we have no conscious memory of them. But they are summed up in an attitude that we call self-confidence in life.
Prayer: Lord of life, we come before you and seek for your guidance as we walk out into the realities of life today. Help us try our best and live a life worthy of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
