Bonhoeffer Exonerated... What A Pity

Devotional for Thursday, September 25, 1997 by Ken Stright

Matthew 6:33- But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

If you keep up with the news you'll have noticed that Dietrich Bonhoeffer has been exonerated from the charge of high treason. What a pity! His story of defiance and opposition and finally plotting against Hitler has always been a wonderful inspiration for me, especially after reading The Cost of Discipleship.

I am so disappointed.

He was a traitor to that inhumane regime because the reign of God came first in his life. The Kingdom is first, all other loyalties secondary.

Prayer: Help us to acknowledge the claim of Christ upon our lives. Help us to live each day to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
