Kairos -- God's TimeDevotional for Wednesday, May 6, 1998 by Ken StrightEcclesiastes 3:1,12 - For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven... He has made everything suitable for its time, moreover he has put a sense of past and future into their minds.I'm not a bad cook when I put my mind to it and I love to come up with new creations from time to time. But it is never wise to ignore the advice I get from the 'experts' in my congregation who have more knowledge and more experience than I do. They tell me that you can't rush a recipe. You can't take short cuts if you expect the end product to turn out the way you want. Things need to come together in a certain way at a certain time. Maybe this is my personal parable for the 'fullness of time' -- for understanding God's time and eternity. The moment must be grasped when it comes. Shakespeare caught this rhythm of time when he wrote: "There is a tide in the affairs of men which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyages of their life is bound up in shallows and miseries." Prayer: Living Lord, help me to know the time, your time, and how I am to live faithfully in the moment you grant me. Lead me, Lord, into the fullness of time through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen. Ken Stright <kennethstright@yahoo.ca> E-mail This Devotional to a friend without subscribing them, or give a
