God Has A Plan

Devotional for Thursday, October 11, 2001 by Dee Renaud

Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (NIV)

Since I have recently become retired, I've been able to spend time crocheting -- something I never seemed to be able to find time to do. I enjoy looking through patterns, trying to decide what my next project will be, and then picking out the yarn. I never really know for sure exactly how it will look until the project is completed.

Much the same is true of our own lives, really. We don't know for sure how things are going to turn out, but we do know that God has a plan for each of our lives. He knows what the finished product will look like and he is constantly making us and molding us into the people He created us to be. How reassuring it is to know that the almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, is at work in our lives -- each and every day!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, at times Your great love for us is overwhelming, and, at times, life itself can seem overwhelming. We thank You that You have a plan for each of our lives, and that You are always at work in our lives, molding us into the people You created us to be. Help us to put our trust in You and to seek Your will for our lives. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
