It's Not About Me!

2 Corinthians 5:15 - And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. (NIV)Everyone knows at least one "Me" person. "Me" people say, do, and feel mostly about themselves, not about others, nor about God. Christianity transforms "Me" people into "Thee" people, through the miraculous spirit of love found uniquely in Christ.
As creations of God, were we not created first for God's pleasure, with our own pleasure playing a secondary role? Our happiness is not the end in itself, but is the by-product of our allowing God to find His joy and His satisfaction through our lives. Pleasing God pleases us. That's simply how things work in this universe. It's not a popular concept, but happiness begins with submission, not with self.
Proverbs 3:7-8 - Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. (RSV)
What a radical idea for the twenty-first "Me" century, that we are God's servants, instead of God being our servant, like some genie in a bottle who owes us three wishes, whenever we remember that He exists. Why would God give me anything new, if I haven't praised Him for all I have received previously? Why would God draw any closer to me, if I largely ignore Him now? How could God bring me any further, if I refuse to let biblical truth guide my life? Only by God's grace does He bring us to the point of submission to His will.
Prayer: Almighty God, may we praise You every day. You alone are God, so we must exist for Your pleasure. May we be still and listen for Your voice. May Your holiness and truth become our exquisite delight. You created us from nothing, so we are Yours to shape as You please, and we trust in your ability. Our hope lies in obedience. May Your Name be glorified in all the earth. You alone are God. It's all about You! Hallelujah! Amen.
