Tasting Something I Haven't Had For A Long Time

Having been diagnosed with diabetes, I was placed on a diet to control the level of sugar and thus control my diabetic problem without medication. I strived to do this, with success.

It seemed a simple thing to do, and, I must say, a much more sensible lifestyle. I continued on, until one day, a large, decorated cake was set before me to cut and serve out to others.

It was a scrumptious, delicious-looking cake, one of those large cakes with filling in the middle, and topped with decorative swirls of icing. Oh, and it was my favourite: chocolate!

My job was to cut the cake in enough portions to serve the numbers present. I took a large knife and proceeded to cut it and place the pieces on plates, while it was passed out to the people gathered for the occasion.

As the time passed and the numbers dwindled, there was still some cake left, and -- you guessed it. I couldn't resist tasting something I hadn't had for a long time. I gave in to it, dove into it, and yes, I did eat. Satan won the battle that day.

Sin usually seems like just a simple little thing, and it's done. Yes, it's done, and God has found us out. But He took pity on us and sacrificed His Son Jesus as our scapegoat. Without Jesus, we would suffer for our own sin, but with Jesus we are saved. We must resolve not to take things lightly, for sin, big or small, is still sin.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we give thanks for Your Son, Jesus, Who took upon Himself all our sin. Thank You, Jesus. In Your name we pray. Amen.
