Rain, Rain Go Away?

Today was a dreary day. It looked like we are going to be blessed with rain again. We've had quite a bit of rain lately, and I am sure that the plants and trees and farmers are very thankful. As for me, the rain stops me from working outside, and I have to find things to do indoors. It is on days like these, that the Holy Spirit nudges me to sit down in front of my computer and press the letters of my keyboard to form words onto a blank sheet of paper pictured on the monitor in front of me.Now that I am sitting down and am confronted with the blank sheet of paper staring at me on the monitor, I find that I am totally blank. What should I write about? My mind wanders to the subject of "rain", and I think about these words that Jesus shared with the multitude:
Matthew 5:44-45 - But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. (NASB)
That is quite a statement. It is so hard to love someone who has hurt us deeply and harder to pray for someone who has done us wrong. It is even harder to accept that God loves that person just as much as He loves us.
God, our heavenly Father, sees the heart of each individual person, both the good ones and the bad ones, whereas we see only the outside of a person and the wrong they do to us.
1 Samuel 16:7b - For God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (NASB)
1 John 2:1-2 - My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. (NASB)
Prayer: Dear God in heaven, thank You so much for sending Your Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for us. What a wonderful promise to know that we have been forgiven! Help us to forgive others as You have forgiven us. Amen.
