[Previous Our Readers Respond ] Good word Diane. Thanks for sharing. Thanks Diane, already forwarded it to a struggling friend. Thank you Diane. Stay warm! Diane, thank you for looking this up for us. I sure did get alot out of what you shared with us today. Thank you, and may God bless you. Thank you. This message was very inspiring and I learned from the insights you shared. Blessings. Amen! Good preaching sister. Yah I get ticked when people make those comments you referred to. Loving the unlovable is a test that God wants us to to get high marks in. Blessings. Dear Diane: Thank you for today's Devotional. We finally realized as long as our churches are full of people they will not be perfect! But what a blessing to meet together to worship and see God work amongst us. Dear Diane, Thank you for your devotional today. I’m glad that you clarified what the word perfection meant as Jesus intended it. If humankind tried to make itself perfect then our salvation would be based on works and not on the Lord’s grace. Thank-you Diane for your devotional. I have one comment; At times there is a need to challenge erroneous teaching within the Church. There is a difference between "perfectionism" and "correction". I am sure you will agree. Our "beloved communion" (denomination) is in such a state at this time. However, we take comfort in the assurance that the Lord feels our sadness. May He who is able, continue to bless your days! Dear Diane, Thank you for your thoughtful word this morning. I'm reminded of the verse in Hebrews 12:2 "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.."(NIV) Our perfection is a maturing process for which I am thankful. May God continue to bless you; I enjoy your writing. (California, USA) While I appreciate your thoughtful meditation, today, Diane, it misses an important point because is its based on the English text rather than the Greek (although you come close). The Greek word in Matthew 5:48 translated as "perfect" in most English translations is teleoi/teleos - which has to do with fulfilling one's purpose. That is, the text is about our being the person we are intended to be - in the intention of God. It seems to me that the first question of the Westminster Shorter Catechism articulates this text's meaning most spectacularly. "What is the chief end of man [sic]?" "The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever." Blessings. Diane, thank you for your message today. I frequently used PCCWeb material for ideas. My wife and I used to be very active with late teenagers and collage aged folks both in our home church and at home. Sadly more and more young people are leaving the church. These are very sincere young people who see immediately if what we say and what we do, does not line up. You may be wondering why I am even reading the PCCWeb site. Well I truly believe Galations 3:28 ...All One In Christ Jesus. Thanks for your time. Peace be with you. Re: A Wave And A Smile by Harriette Davis, Thursday, January 19, 2012
Harriette, we live in a little community that does the same...wave and speak and smile.
Good Morning Harriette: A message with much to think about. I pondered over it for quite a while and I loved it. I too must agree with you that smiles and waves are not nearly so frequent these days, but when one considers all that is happening in our world, it is very easy to understand why!!! A beautiful message making us aware of the fact that we, as Christians, have the challenge to share the Son with someone making His "Sonshine" present in their lives and placing a smile on their faces even though things are not going as well as they would hoped they would. Thank you for the fine message. Re: PCCWeb Daily Devotional
Blessings to you, Robin and all those involved in the Daily.
